Welcome Classmates

A group of classmates is working at creating a weekend reunion for The Class of 1972, Benton High School, Benton Pennsylvania.

Just us for our next meeting at Town Perk, April 21, 2007 @ 4:00. Please post a message to Barb here if you would like to join us.

So far we are planning a weekend of activities. On Friday the "girls" are invited to join together for a sleepover at the Crestmont Inn in Eagles Mere. Saturday features a wonderful dinner with classmates and significant others at the Crestmont. On Sunday afternoon we will have a family picnic at a location to be announced at a later time.

Visit this blog soon for postings of pictures from our glorious past. If you have pictures to share, please post a message to me and I will forward an address that you may use to add your pictures to our collection.

Any chance of getting a tour of the high school? I hear there have been many changes in the past 35 years. (Yes, 35 years!!!)

There have been major changes in the school including the entire old middle section of the building being replaced. I'll contact Beverly and see what we can arrange. Either Saturday or Sunday and probably Sunday will be best. Thanks for the thought. The elementary is totally different as well.

Good to hear from you.

Classmates, be sure to book a room as soon as possible if you want to stay in Eagles Mere. You might also want to consider the Sonestown Country Inn. It is about 15 minutes from Eagles Mere and much lower in cost. Here's a link for their information.

I'm having trouble finding Bryan DeVaul. The last we knew he was in Ocean City MD, but the reunion info I sent him came back. Any ideas?

Funny I should read this today. I just sent him a note about the reunion to OC MD today. It was an address I found on the internet. I will let you know if it comes back undeliverable. I have not seen him in over 30 years.

It is so good to hear from Lynn and Steve and everyone else. I can't wait to see you all. Much has changed since we last saw each other. I have a new last name, Danilowicz, yes it's to Bill. We all have a lot of catching up to do.

Hello everyone. Yes, I would love a tour of the high school. And maybe some of the teachers would come out for this. I hope everyone is bringing pictures!!! We have a lot of catching up to do.
35 years...is it possible?
Can't wait.

does any one know what happened to Jim Merrill our french teacher? He was a mystery. Appeared in Benton full of stories of France, had a sense of humor that was unlike anyone else I knew. He seemed to vanish. He is not even in our year book. ?????

Didn't they cut the program and replace it with Spanish? Or did he retire and they replaced it with Spanish? Barb

Spanish and French were both offered. Or was it French and German? Who know or cares at this point. But, the mystery remains. Who was the real James Merrill. The mysterious teacher who know so much about Europe, had a wife that no one ever saw, appeared out of now where and the went away. Personally, I think he was in the FBI in witness protection. LOL. Oh, and he always wore dark glasses. And never had his picture taken. Oh the drama and mystery. Buy the way, anyone remember when he asked "what every happened to Baby Jane?" and the answer he gave? If I remember and you want to know, asked me at the dinner.

We had French and German originally and when he left they put Spanish in the place of German. I do remember he worked in Germany after the war as a translator for the military. You're making me laugh with you description of him. I did meet his wife once! I even remember which house was his. I don't remember the baby Jane comment, but I do remember that he said we would start to dream in German when the language clicked with us. I did have one dream in German and didn't understand a single word. Wishful "dreaming" I guess.
